About Us

Refugee Women Organization (REWO) is a refugee-led and women-led community-based organization dedicated to empowering refugee women, girls, youth, and vulnerable communities through sustainable development, advocacy, and community-driven solutions.

Founded in Bidi Bidi Refugee Settlement, Yumbe District, Uganda, REWO was established in response to the urgent need for a strong refugee women-led voice to address the social, economic, and protection challenges affecting refugee and host communities.

Our organization was born from lived experience. Having experienced displacement, hardship, and the realities of life as refugees, our leadership understands firsthand the barriers faced by women and girls, including limited access to education, economic vulnerability, gender-based violence, and social exclusion.

This experience inspired the creation of REWO to provide practical solutions, amplify community voices, and create opportunities for dignity, resilience, and self-reliance.
